Let’s talk about the definition of a slushy. A slushie is a frozen drink usually made with fruit and ice processed in a blender. There are two ways to make them: either taking frozen fruits or using fresh with ice cubes. When you take the first version and use frozen fruits like I do, you might need some additional liquid to keep the blender going. You can use coconut milk, juice, water or whatever you feel for.

All you need is:

3 cups of cubed and frozen watermelon

1/2 cup of lime juice

Some sweetener of your choice

And that`s how to make it:

Put everything in a blender and mix until it has the consistency of a thick icy smoothie. Add more juice if needed. Since my limes were not really juicy so I squeezed in some additional lemon juice.

Taste and add extra sugar if necessary. With this mix I usually use no sweetener at all since I like the sour taste which perfectly fits to the natural sweetness of the watermelon.

Top it up with some sparkling water and decorate it with some sprigs of mint, to get your own fancy healthy kinda soda.

You can even add a splash of Vodka if you want to turn the whole thing into a funky summer cocktail

Melts quickly so best to enjoy it NOW 🙂
