Coming from Austria, a country with rich coffee culture and coffee shops everywhere you go, of course I love coffee. And I still do drink it but really rarely these days compared to my time back home. And since I live in Asia I got completely addicted to my Matcha Lattes in the afternoon.. super delicious, hot or cold.

Matcha is finely ground powder made out of a special kind of strong, green tea. It has a substantial amount of caffeine (almost the same as a cup of brewed coffee), but has a compound called I-theanine that induces relaxation. You won’t get the “coffee high” from a cup of Matcha, nor the headaches sometimes associated with coffee.

Iced Matcha Latte ( one jar )

Things you need:

½ cup water

½ cup organic oat milk (or almond milk or coconut milk or rice milk.. the world is yours)

1 teaspoon matcha tea powder

1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)

5 minutes instructions:

First add a bit of hot water to your matcha powder. Now use the bamboo whisk to create a thick green paste. Mix until everything is smooth and no lumps are left.

Then add the rest of your water (best room temperature). Take the almond milk and add here some sweetener of your choice. I love maple or agave sirup since it is easier to dissolve then honey.

Fill your glass up with ice. Pour in first the matcha mixture then the almond milk. Enjoy sipping!
